Craven Cottage
The London Legends Cup took place on the 29th May 2011 at Craven Cottage and was a four team tournament featuring former players from four of London’s biggest Premier League Clubs, CHELSEA, ARSENAL, SPURS AND FULHAM. The tournament comprised two semi-finals followed by the Final, all 20 minuted each way. The three matches were refereed by former Premier League officials Dermot Gallagher and Steve Dunn. The teams were made up of recently retired former professionals such as Gianfranco Zola, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, Paul Merson, Darren Anderton and Tore Andre Flo. Added to this mix were legendary vets of the game such as Ricky Villa, Ossie Ardiles & Rodney Marsh.
Winners
The standard of football on the day was superb with goals galore of the highest quality with the tournament being won by the Chelsea legends led by a reinvigorated Gianfranco Zola and featuring stars such as Pat Nevin, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, Tor Andre Flo, Ken Monkou and Kerry Dixon. Partner of the tournament was bet365, a large betting company, which provided 10 fans the chance to get some photos and autographs from the legends playing. They gave away some prizes as well as promotional bonus codes for their platform. If you got one of these coupons and you are wondering whether or not to take your chances with them, make sure to first read this bet365 review, which will give you an all around perspective of what they offer.
Attendance
The event was a huge success with the public and was a fantastic day out for the all the family. Fathers came to watch the legends they remembered from their youth and to introduce these legends to their children who had never had the opportunity to watch these players ply their craft in the flesh. The tickets went on sale ahead of the game via Capitol Radio, ticket outlets and the Fulham website. Tickets were also available on the day and were on sale to the general public. There were over 12,000 people attended on the day and this helped to deliver a competitive and compelling atmosphere throughout the tournament. Corporate tickets were pre-sold either as single tickets or tables and the demand for these outstripped all expectations.

Media Coverage
The event was broadcast live in it’s entirety on ITV4 with highlights
shown on E.S.P.N. over the following weeks.
Haven’t had the official reaction from ITV4 but I would imagine it was good. The afternoon average 225,000 and we peaked at 400,000 which is very credible for a Bank Holiday weekend with competing sport. I thought the turnout of players was very good and that credibility was all-important. I was also staggered that you 12,000 through the gate. The production ran well and again that was a tribute to getting three games to K.O. on time or thereabouts – always a task.
